We are combing the grades of 3-4-5 – This is our Young Spirit Group.  There are two different sessions – one at Jasna Gora and one at the Rosary on Sunday mornings
 

Year 1 (2006-2007) focus is “God’s Law Guides Us”

Year 2 (2007-2008 focus is “We Meet Jesus in the Sacraments”

Year 3 (2008-2009) focus is  “We Are the Church”

Unit 1: Growing in Jesus Christ

Chapter 1:Jesus - the Way, the Truth, and the Life • God sent his only Son to us. • Jesus shows us how to live. • Jesus Christ is our Savior. • The disciples spread the good news of Jesus Christ.

Chapter 2:Jesus Leads Us to Happiness • Jesus trusted God his Father. • Jesus taught the Beatitudes. • Jesus taught about the Kingdom of God. • Jesus' disciples share his mission.

Unit 2: Learning About God's Law

Unit 3: The Commandment Help Us to Love Others

Chapter 15:The Fourth Commandment • God wants us to love and respect others. • In our families we learn to love God and others. • In our families we have the responsibility to love and respect one another. • Citizens and leaders work together for peace.

Chapter 16:The Fifth Commandment • Human life is sacred. • The right to life is the most basic human right. • We respect the gift of life. • Promoting peace is a way to respect life.

Chapter 17:The Sixth Commandment • God creates each person with the ability to show and share love. • We are called to chastity. • Friendships are one way we grow in love. • The love between husband and wife is very special.

Chapter 18:The Seventh Commandment • We are called to act with justice. • We respect the property of others. • God's creation is meant for all people. • We are called to help all people meet their basic needs. 

Chapter 19:The Eighth Commandment • God teaches us what it means to be true. • We are called to witness to the truth of our faith. • We have a responsibility to tell the truth. • We have a responsibility to respect the truth.

Chapter 20:Lent • Lent is the season of preparation for Easter. Chapter 21: Triduum • The Easter Triduum celebrates the joy of the cross.

Unit 4: We Are Called to Holiness

Chapter 22:The Ninth Commandment • Feelings are a gift from God. • God created us to share love. • God calls us to be pure of heart. • The virtue of modesty helps us to be pure of heart.

Chapter 23:The Tenth Commandment • We are called to have generous hearts. • Jesus taught us to trust in God above all things. • Depending upon God brings happiness. • Jesus teaches us that God's law is love.

Chapter 24:We Grow in Holiness • Jesus is our model of holiness. • We open our hearts and minds in prayer. • The sacraments draw us closer to God. • The Holy Spirit shares special gifts with us.

Chapter 25:We Are the Church • The Church is a worldwide community. • We have responsibilities as members of the Church. • We celebrate the sacraments. • We have an active role in the Church community.

“We Meet Jesus in the Sacraments”

Unit 1:  Jesus Christ Shares His Life with Us

Chapter 1:Jesus Shares God's Life with Us •Jesus is the Son of God. • Jesus shows us God's love. • Jesus invites people to follow him. • Jesus' disciples continue his work.

Chapter 2:Jesus Shares His Mission with the Church • We are joined to Jesus Christ and to one another. • We proclaim the good news of Christ by what we say and do. • In the liturgy we celebrate Christ's Paschal Mystery. • When we serve others we give witness to Christ.

Chapter 3:The Church Celebrates Seven Sacraments • Jesus gave the Church seven sacraments. • The sacraments of Christian initiation are Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. • The sacraments of healing are Reconciliation and Anointing of the Sick. • Holy Orders and Matrimony are sacraments of service to others.

Chapter 4:New Life in Christ • Baptism is the foundation of Christian life. • In Baptism we are freed from sin and become children of God. • We are a priestly, prophetic, and royal people. • Because of our Baptism we have the hope of eternal life.

Chapter 5:The Celebration of Baptism • The Church welcomes all to be baptized. • The parish community participates in the celebration of Baptism. • Water is an important sign of Baptism. • The baptized begin their new life as children of God.

Chapter 6:The Liturgical Year • Throughout the liturgical year we remember and celebrate the life of Christ.

Chapter 7:Ordinary Time • Ordinary Time is a special season to learn about the life of Christ and to grow as his followers.

 

Unit 2: Confirmation and Eucharist Complete Our Initiation

Chapter 8:The Coming of the Holy Spirit •On Pentecost the Holy Spirit came upon the first disciples. • Laying on of hands and anointing are signs of the Holy Spirit's presence. • In Confirmation we become more like Christ and are strengthened to be his witnesses. •Preparation is an important part of Confirmation.

Chapter 9:The Celebration of Confirmation •Confirmation leads us from Baptism to the Eucharist. • In the sacrament of Confirmation, we are sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit. • The gifts of the Holy Spirit help those who are confirmed. •Confirmation calls those anointed to live out their Baptism as witnesses of Jesus Christ.

Chapter 10:Jesus Christ, the Bread of Life • In the Eucharist we celebrate and receive Jesus Christ. • The Eucharist is a memorial, a meal, and a sacrifice. • We recognize Jesus in the breaking of the bread. • Jesus is the Bread of Life.

Chapter 11:The Celebration of the Eucharist • The Introductory Rites bring us together as a community. •During the Liturgy of the Word, we listen and respond to the word of God • During the Liturgy of the Eucharist, we pray the great prayer of thanksgiving and receive the Body and Blood of Christ. • The Concluding Rite sends us out to be the Body of Christ to others.

Chapter 12:Living as a Prayerful People • Jesus teaches us to pray. • We are called to pray daily. • Sacramentals are a part of the Church's prayer life. •Catholics have a rich tradition of special practices and popular devotions.

Chapter 13:Advent •Advent is a season of joyful expectation and preparation for the coming of the Son of God.

Chapter 14:Christmas • The season of Christmas is a time to rejoice in the Incarnation.

 

Unit 3: The Sacraments of Healing Restore Us

Chapter 15:We Turn to God •Jesus calls us to conversion. • Jesus forgives as only God can do. • Jesus continues to forgive us through the Church. • We are reconciled with God and the Church.

Chapter 16:The Celebration of Reconciliation • The sacrament of Reconciliation strengthens our relationship with God and others.• In the sacrament of Reconciliation, the Church celebrates God's forgiveness. • In the sacrament of Reconciliation we trust in God's mercy.• Together we turn our hearts and minds to God.

Chapter 17:Jesus, the Healer • Jesus heals those who are sick. • Jesus' apostles preach and heal in his name. • The Church continues Jesus' healing ministry. • We are called to care for those who are sick.

Chapter 18:The Celebration of the Anointing of the Sick • Jesus is with us when we are suffering. • The Anointing of the Sick continues Jesus' saving work of healing. • The Church celebrates the Anointing of the Sick. • Jesus is with those who hope for eternal life.

Chapter 19:Mary, Model of Discipleship • Mary is Jesus' first disciple. • Mary is most blessed among women. • Mary is the greatest of all the saints. • The Church remembers and honors Mary.

Chapter 20:Lent • Lent is the season of preparation for the great celebration of Easter.

Chapter 21:The Easter Triduum • The Easter Triduum is our greatest celebration of the Paschal Mystery.

 

 

 

Unit 4:  We Love and Serve as Jesus Did

Chapter 22:Faith, Hope and Love • We believe in God and all that the Church teaches. • We trust in God and are confident in his love and care for us. • We are able to love God and one another. • The saints are models for living the life of virtue.

Chapter 23:Called to Live as Jesus' Disciples • Jesus calls the baptized to serve him in the priesthood of the faithful. • The laity share in the mission to bring the good news of Christ to the world. • Women and men in religious life serve Christ, their communities, and the whole Church. • Friendships prepare us for future vocation.

 

Chapter 24:Matrimony: A Promise of Faithfulness and Love• Marriage was part of God's plan form the very beginning. • The marriage covenant is built on Christ's love for the Church. • In the sacrament of Matrimony, a man and woman promise to always love and be true to each other. • Families are very important communities.

Chapter 25:Holy Orders: A Promise of Service for God's People • Jesus shares his ministry in a special way with the apostles. • Holy Orders is the sacrament through which the Church continues the apostles' mission. • Bishops, priests, and deacons serve the Church in different ways. • The laying on of hands and prayer of consecration are the main parts of the sacrament of Holy Orders.

Chapter 26:One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic • The Church is one and holy. • The Church is catholic and apostolic. • The Church respects all people. • The Church works for justice and peace.

Chapter 27:Easter • The Easter season is a special time to rejoice over the new life we have in Christ.

Chapter 2:Jesus Teaches Us About God's Love • Jesus tells us how much God loves us. • Jesus teaches about the Kingdom of God. • Jesus teaches about the gift of faith. • Jesus dies and rises to save us.

Chapter 3:Christ Will Come Again • Jesus has power over life and death. • Jesus will come again. • When Jesus Christ comes again, he will judge all people. • Jesus teaches us to love others.

Chapter 4:The Church Begins • Jesus promises to send the Holy Spirit. • The Holy Spirit comes to the disciples. • The Church begins on Pentecost. • The early Church grows.

Chapter 5:We Learn About the Early Church • The apostles led the Church. • The disciples of Jesus share the good news. • The followers of Jesus stood up for their faith. • Many of our ancestors in faith are examples of holiness.

Chapter 9:The Church Teaches Us • The Church is the Body of Christ and the people of God. • We profess our faith through the Apostles' Creed. • The Holy Spirit guides the Church. • The Church continues to teach the true message of Jesus.

Chapter 10:The Church Prays • Jesus teaches his followers how to pray. • We can pray with others or by ourselves. • There are different kinds of prayer. • The Church prays at all times.
