A Parish Mission Statement is a concise expression of a parish's purpose for existence. It helps the parish identify itself as a community of faith and set broad goals. It responds to the questions: Who are we as a parish? What do we value? What do we seek to become as a parish community? The Parish Mission Statement is rooted in the mission of the universal church and the Diocesan Mission Statement.

As an initial element of pastoral planning, the Parish Mission Statement is to be inspirational, motivational and give overall direction for parish life activities. It explains the reasons why a parish exists with words that are simple, clear, and meaningful to the people of the parish. It is meant to be understood and used by the parish community as it strives to be faithful to the mission entrusted by Christ: "Go into the whole world and proclaim the Good News to all of creation". (Mark 16:15)

Parish Mission & About Us

Mission Statement

We, the Roman Catholic community of Our Lady of the Rosary and Our Lady of Jasna Gora parishes, believe that our mission is to respond joyfully to Christ’s call to become more fully the people of God and to carry on the mission of Christ and His Church in our communities and beyond. That mission is carried on fundamentally by proclaiming the Gospel of forgiveness, love and reconciliation to every person.

We are a family of faith centered on the Eucharist, which is the summit and the source of all that we do and hope to become.

Our desire is to be a community of prayer, service and stewardship leading each other closer to Christ in the variety of the gifts, services and ministries that we employ to help build up the Kingdom of God.

We pray to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, through the intercession of Mary, to whose care our parishes are consecrated: May the Lord of Light guide us in our earthly journey.

- Formulated and Adopted: October 23, 2006

Mission Task: As Disciples of Christ we therefore commit ourselves to:

  • worship God in spirit and truth through "prayer without ceasing," and particularly through the celebration of the Eucharist and the other sacraments of the Church;
  • create and nourish Christian community in the domestic church of the family, in the life of every parish, and in society as a whole;
  • proclaim in word and deed the Good News of Jesus Christ to all persons, inviting each of our sisters and brothers in the human community to share our faith and our mission;
  • teach the saving message of Christ so that all believers may come to deeper understanding, conversion and personal witness to Christ;
  • serve all our sisters and brothers, particularly the poor and needy, by generous acts of charity and by working together with all people of good will for justice and peace.

PARISH MISSION STATEMENT

The Mission Statement of each parish indicates the unique qualities of its history, tradition and composition as well as its particular vision for fulfilling the mission of Jesus Christ. It gives specific expression to the parish intention to live out its calling within the concrete boundaries of its location, resources and needs. It defines why a particular parish exists.

Forming a mission statement involves processes of discernment and consensus. The pastor and council, having listened to the parish reflect upon its unique characteristics, resources and gifts, determine how it can best give expression to the diocesan vision and the particular call of God to this parish community.

About us

We are a community of two twinned parishes made up of approximately 600 families registered. We are a family that is built on many different ethnic backgrounds and, being composed of two parishes, has a rich and wonderful history.

Members of our family include young and elderly, families and single man and woman; those who are well-to-do and those who don't have much. What makes us who we are is that we are a diverse group of Christian pilgrims on a journey to know God and to grow in his image.
