...Every human being has a great, yet often unknown gift
to care, to be compassionate, to become present to the other,
to listen, to hear and to receive.
If that gift would be set free - and made available, - miracles could take place...

Personal Spirituality

Developing a relationship with the Lord is at the heart of our faith. It is the foundation of everything else we do in the church, at work, and in our homes and neighborhoods.

Our Unique Call

So many terrible things happen every day that we start wondering whether the few things we do ourselves make any sense. When people are starving only a few thousand miles away, when wars are raging close to our borders, when countless people in our own cities have no homes to live in, our own activities look futile. Such considerations, however, can paralyze us and depress us.

Here the word call becomes important. We are not called to save the world, solve all problems, and help all people. But we each have our own unique call, in our families, in our work, in our world. We have to keep asking God to help us see clearly what our call is and to give us the strength to live out that call with trust. Then we will discover that our faithfulness to a small task is the most healing response to the illnesses of our time.

PARISH STEWARDSHIP RENEWAL

"Everything I have is Yours"

2007-2008

On the weekend of Nov. 10/11, 2007 we began our first stewardship renewal. During the course of three weekends we will focus on what stewardship is all about; what it means to be good and faithful stewards, and how stewardship as a way of life can indeed shape all we do as families, members of the parish, and citizens. The concept of stewardship is rooted in the idea of gratitude and responsibility. It calls us to live best possible lives we can, and embrace Christian discipleship with joy and enthusiasm. The three major components of stewardship are TIME, TALENT AND TREASURE. These are gifts given to us by God to be returned to him proportionally and gratefully and shared among all members of our community generously. To learn more about stewardship visit our stewardship page on this website.

We would like to sincerely thank members of our parish Stewardship Committee for their hard work in preparation for our first stewardship renewal: Sr. Maureen Hickey, Deacon Gary and Betty Miller, Tony Andriski, John Donohue and those who have helped prepare the mailings and other materials. God's peace be with you as we embrace stewardship as a way of life remembering that indeed "Everything we have belongs to God."

FOR MARRIED COUPLES, ENGAGED COUPLES, FOR YOUR MARRIAGE: RESOURCES FOR LIVING HAPPILY EVERY AFTER FROM THE UNITED STATES CONFERENCE OF CATHOLIC BISHOPS: The Catholic Church cares about your marriage. In fact, the U.S. Catholic bishops are working hard to make marriage a priority (see National Pastoral Initiative for Marriage). Every marriage matters, because marriage comes from the hand of God. Every marriage matters, because marriage comes from the hand of God. God brings a man and a woman together to love and support each other. Their love becomes visible in the children they bring into the world and in their acts of generous service.

New Vatican City State Website... Check it out it is cool...

Vatican City is the smallest independent state in the world in terms of inhabitants and size. It occupies an area of 44 hectares. The borders are represented by its walls and the travertine pavement curve that joins the two wings of the colonnades in St Peter’s Square. Beyond the territory of the State, Vatican jurisdiction also covers some extraterritorial areas within and outside Rome.

The Benedictine Way of Life: St. Benedict who lived in the 6th
century makes simple yet profound points about life. His rule of life is filled with brilliant insights about how one may make an ordinary life a deeply fulfilling life. If you want to find fulfillment in your life and live best possible life, according to St. Benedict you have to make sure that you live in a thankful and balanced way.

A modern interpretation of the Rule of St. Benedict was written by John McQuiston II "ALWAYS WE BEGIN AGAIN - THE BENEDICTINE WAY OF LIVING." John who is a lawyer in Tennessee, rendered a beautiful interpretation of the main principals of the Rule of St. Benedict and made them applicable to a life of an ordinary person, like you and me.

June Conversation Series with Bishop McManus:
Join Bishop McManus and Fr. Michael Rose for a conversation about the pastoral planning activities and goals for parishes in the Diocese of Worcester.

Fall in love!

Nothing is more practical than finding God,
that is, than falling in love in a quite absolute, final way.
What you are in love with,
What seizes your imagination,
Will affect everything.
It will decide what will get you out of bed in the morning,
What you do with your evenings,
How you spend your weekends,
What you read,
Who you know,
What breaks your heart,
and what amazes you with joy and gratitude.
Fall in love,
Stay in love,
and it will decide everything.

Fall in love with Christ; it will change everything.

Father Pedro Arrupe, the revered Superior General of the Jesuits from 1965 to 1981

The Symptoms
of Inner Peace:
A Possible Interpretation
of the Gifts of the Spirit

Some signs and symptoms of inner peace--
A tendency to think and act spontaneously rather than
on fears based on past experiences.

An unmistakable ability to enjoy each moment.

A loss of interest in judging other people.

A loss of interest in judging self.

A loss of interest in interpreting the actions of others.

A loss of interest in conflict.

A loss of the ability to worry (this is a very serious symptom).

Frequent, overwhelming episodes of appreciation.

Contented feelings of connectedness with others and nature.

Frequent attacks of smiling.

An increasing tendency to let things happen rather than
make them happen.

And increased susceptibility to the love extended by others
as well as the uncontrollable urge to extend it.

- Nurturing a Hopeful Heart

Read a bit
Listen to a favorite song
Call a friend
Remember a kindness
Help the poor
Keep perspective
Smile broadly
Laugh loudly
Close doors gently
Do what you can
Live gratefully
Relax for a moment
Breath deeply
Tease yourself often
Take a quiet walk
Tell God a funny story

"After 50 - Spirituality Embracing Your Own Wisdom."

The Great Gift of Parenthood

Children are their parents' guests. They come into the space that has been created for them, stay for a while - fifteen, twenty, or twenty-five years - and leave again to create their own space. Although parents speak about "our son" and "our daughter," their children are not their property. In many ways children are strangers. Parents have to come to know them, discover their strengths and their weaknesses, and guide them to maturity, allowing them to make their own decisions.

The greatest gift parents can give their children is their love for each other. Through that love they create an anxiety-free place for their children to grow, encouraging them to develop confidence in themselves and find the freedom to choose their own ways in life.
